Event invitation – relevant to immigration and Palestine

Invitation to an event organised by a coalition of organisations working on Named Community Sponsorship – the new safe and legal pathway for resettling refugees in the UK.

The government has committed to making sponsorship “the primary means by which we resettle refugees”. To discuss what this initiative would look like we're planning a drop-in event for MPs.

Communities for Palestinians will attend to share our preparations for named families, and the urgency to start the scheme.

The drop-in, hosted by Jayne Kirkham MP, will look at how effective sponsorship works in a rural context with learning from Falmouth and Penryn Welcomes Refugees and how you can support the delivery of an ambitious named sponsorship programme that puts communities at the heart of decision-making.

Details:
·  'A new deal for refugee resettlement: How can community sponsorship enhance protection, improve integration and help build stronger communities?'
·  Tuesday 14th July 1-3pm
·  Room R, Portcullis House

The drop-in will provide a confidential space to share lessons from previous sponsorship schemes and to ask specific questions, including about how the scheme works in a rural context.

You will also have the opportunity to speak to civil society experts engaged in policy design and experienced rural community sponsorship groups
